Data Recovery London
Lost files, failed hard drive or a computer that won't start? We can assess the problem and help recover important data wherever recovery is technically possible.
Common data recovery problems
London PC Fix can assess a wide range of data loss situations. Not every case is recoverable, but we will give you an honest assessment before any work proceeds.
Computer Won't Start
Files may still be recoverable even when Windows or the computer itself will no longer boot normally. A failed operating system does not necessarily mean the underlying data is lost.
Failed Hard Drive
Assessment of hard drives showing errors, disappearing from Windows, failing to mount or becoming inaccessible. We can assess the fault and advise on the best approach.
Deleted Files
Help investigating accidentally deleted files and determining whether recovery may still be possible, depending on what has happened to the storage since deletion.
External Drives
Support with external hard drives, USB drives and other portable storage devices that are no longer accessible or recognised by your computer.
Old Computer Data Transfer
Recover and transfer files from an old or failing computer to a replacement device — including documents, photographs, emails and other personal files.
Corrupted Storage
Investigation of inaccessible or corrupted drives and file systems, including drives that appear blank, unformatted or show file-system errors.
Is the laptop itself the problem? If the device needs troubleshooting or repair as well as data recovery, see our Laptop Repair London service.
If your drive is failing — stop and read this first
If the missing data is important, the best thing you can do immediately is stop using the device. Every read or write operation after a failure can reduce the chance of recovery.
- Avoid repeatedly restarting the computer
- Avoid repeatedly reconnecting a clicking or failing drive
- Avoid installing recovery software onto the affected drive
- Avoid copying new files to the affected storage
- Stop using the device if the missing data is important
Continued use can overwrite deleted information or worsen physical damage to the drive.
Ask Us Before Doing Anything ElseHow the process works
Tell Us What Happened
Explain what device is affected and what files are missing. The more detail you can provide, the better we can assess the situation.
Initial Assessment
London PC Fix assesses whether the problem appears logical, software-related, hardware-related or potentially requires specialist recovery. We will explain our findings clearly.
Recovery Options
We explain the available approach and likely costs before proceeding. Where specialist laboratory recovery is required, we will advise accordingly.
Recover and Transfer
Where recovery is possible, data is transferred to suitable storage supplied or agreed with you. We cannot guarantee recovery in every case — success depends on the condition of the device.
Data recovery cannot be guaranteed in every case. Success depends on the condition of the storage device and the type of failure involved.

Common questions about data recovery
Can all lost data be recovered?
No. Recovery depends on the type of failure, the condition of the storage device and whether lost data has been overwritten. We will give you an honest assessment of what is possible in your specific situation.
My computer won't boot. Are my files necessarily lost?
Not necessarily. A failed operating system does not mean the underlying files are gone. In many cases the drive is intact and files can be recovered, even when Windows will not start.
Should I run recovery software myself?
If the files are important, it is usually better to stop using the affected drive first and seek advice. Installing software or continuing to write data to the drive can reduce recovery chances in some situations, particularly where data has been deleted rather than hardware has failed.
Do you recover data from physically damaged drives?
London PC Fix can assess the issue and advise whether the data can be recovered directly or requires specialist laboratory recovery. Severe physical drive failures — such as a clicking or seized drive — may require a specialist clean-room facility.
Can you transfer recovered files to a new computer?
Yes. Where files are successfully recovered, we can transfer them to a new drive or computer as part of the same job.
Do you support business data recovery?
Yes, but business requirements, urgency and pricing may differ from residential work. Please get in touch to discuss your situation.
